Powdercoating Cost???

Postby Simon1 » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:54 pm

Hello gents,

I recently went to get my new rear uprights powdercoated and the quoted price was $150. At this rate I think it will cost me over $1000 to my Barracuda fully covered.

In general, what should it cost to get a barracuda chassis powder-coated? I was hoping to get out of it for about $600, but something tells me I'm dreaming....

Cheers,

Simon.

I spoke to a mob here in brisy, they apparently do a fair few frames for buggys and stock cars etc, i described mine to him over the phone (length and width) and he said in the vicinity of $500. He also mentioned that i should bring it in all in one hit or in larger amounts because they have a minimum charge of $40. They charged sand blasting at like $3.50/min and powder coating at $2.50min or something like that. i rang another company but they were reluctant to even give me an idea of cost/min or general pricing guidelines. THe first guy spoke to me for about 30min discussing how best to prepare the frame etc. Someone having been through it might be best to give ou a better idea but thats what i've learned.

All sorted itchyback. I found another comany who was MUCH better priced. 200% cheaper in fact. If they come back looking good, they will be doing the whole buggy.

Yea Trav, I may have been exagerating :*.

Con,

I havn't got the whole frame done, just the rear uprights because I didn't want to a have to press the bearings out again. ZAP powdercoating gave the best price and they did an OK job. Took a little while though, about three weeks.....

Cuda chassis, arms and uprights. Pearl powder...$400 + Gst.

That's blast and coat.

Can't beat it. Ipswich powdercoating.
