You could fab up the scoop/box section with a stepped down bottom about an inch deep below the inlet so the water collects in the bottom, then put a 25mm fitting on two corners and a length of drain hose. I know it probably sounds a bit obvious.
The snorkel on my old hilux had the same principle. It had the ram air but the downpipe came through the bottom of the snorkel hat about 2 inches and the water came out of a half inch hole at the back.

A few updates. Have finished the air box....well to my satisfaction anyway. Here's what I did.

Welded a plate to the rear of the roof panel with 2 holes for air cleaner and 2 holes for water drainage just in case.

Machined up some collars for the drain tubes

Welded the sides and the top on

With all the bits hooked up

Took the buggy out for its first test drive drive last weekend and was very surprised at the power and handling....and wasn't even pushing it. A few minor problems....chain rubbing on cross tube...easy fix and a few nuts came loose that were not lock nuts...easy fix. Other than that I was very pleased :D :D

Cheers. I'm still going to put some mesh of some sort at the mouth to stop any large rocks....just haven't found anything suitable yet. :) :)

You can buy rolls of ali mesh from Super Cheap, its used for grilles on wrx's etc. My old foreman bought some for his westfield, looks good. Comes in different colors too.

Verry nice intake.
For what are that 2 transparant hose?
And your flexibel hose are they fuel steady?

Hi Joost. The 2 transparent hoses are to allow water and dirt to drain from the rear of the box. If water did build up it would go straight down the air intake.

Fuel steady?? not sure what you mean. This is just air going down the intakes.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks Matt. The majority of the welds look ok...not perfect by any means but your right I do like the look of the welds being visible....looks more.....mechanical. I haven't ground any down as yet and don't intend to. :D :D

Well progression has been slow. Rebuilding a horse float for the missus and the demands of work are taking their toll. Ready for a holiday me thinks. Anyway have made a little more progress today so I thought I would share.

Finally got some panel work done after waiting ages for the tabs to be cut.

Put an extra heim joint in the vertical section of the steering column to stop some play. Made a heap difference.

And the air ram is all finished bar the grill

I thought the same about the paneling but when I saw Russell's build from NZ I wanted to see the steel work under the sheet.....I just like the look of it. Got 2 more sheets to cut and basically it's finished !!

Hey mate

How you going? I have also built one of these a few years ago. Just wondering if you know of any tracks I could ride on?

Thanks mate.
