Ford Fiasco.

Yeah Rod I agree i do not believe it's a smart move by Ford to remove any funding & or resources Period Full Stop.

There could be an argument about the relevance of V8's & the 50% rise in 18 months of petrol prices at the bowser. There has been a whole lot of "talk" in AA about asking if it's time to consider a transition away form V8 Technology, & I wonder if this could be the Reason or hidden agenda by Ford in annoucing such a scheme.

in my opinion for what it's worth, It would be extremely difficult to make any sort of move away from V8's, given how deeply the category & cars are entrenched as part of our proud aussie culture. For Me, Nothing else sounds the same, does it.

Long Live the Ford Support, the Holden V's Ford Rivalry & the roar of a good V8.

Could have seen it coming with Ford deciding not to offer a Falcon Wagon anymore. We all know that they are the hardest driven cars in Australia - ask any Sales Rep... The wagons are the true test of the build in both breeds.

Can't wait to see the 888 Territory screaming down Conrod???

That's just it, why offer a wagon when the public can buy a RWD Territory for about the same price? Who would pick the wagon these days? Apparently they're not flashy enough to keep up with the Joneses...

The wagon is still offered, it just didn't get the update like the sedan did.
The wagon will be replaced by the Mondeo Wagon. It's a nice bit of kit.

Except when you try to carry anything in it. We fit 2.4m stands in ours with all the rest of the gear we need to carry. Sorry but the Aussie wagon fits a purpose - they wouldn't have a market unless it was for us. Family wagons can transfer OK to the Territory or Mondeo but for business use it will be Commodore all the way now...

Toyota presented the 4cyl Camry Wagon to Ryobi - a National company with a large amount of cars on the road that get regularly updated. It was all going well until one of the reps tried to fit a whipper snipper in the back. All came to a screaming halt then.

Not trying to defend the Falcon wagon - they are a piece of sh#t, especially the LPG versions. The springs fall out regularly along with a whole heap of other design flaws but the point is - why not design or maintain cars for the market? Ask a fleet company how many they pump out in a year and the numbers will astound. It increases brand recognition and the availability of parts later on. The aftermarket parts supply is a very important factor in peoples choice of a car. My wife is about to buy a new car and I refuse to let her buy something that will be a one hit wonder. How many of these have we seen before? Toyota specialise in it, we have had the Mondeo before, Holden do it too...

Anyway this is irrelevant to this thread, my point was if the bean counters at Ford and Holden count numbers instead of heads - there will be less numbers every time they look from now on.

Ford didn't bother updating the wagon, and will not be offering a Falcon wagon at all soon, because there is simply no business case for it. What is the point of building a car if no-one is going to buy it? 90% of what we used to use wagons for is now being done with 4WD's and SUV's. With the big car market shrinking the way it is, if the manufacturers don't start rethinking the role of their big cars, and changing the design to suit what the market wants, then there wll be no large car market at all.

Interesting point - the Mondeo is actually bigger in some of it's overall dimensions than the BF Falcon... (???)

Round 5 is on this weekend. Sandowm Raceway in Melbourne is the venue.....????? Sandown in June? I hear you ask. Yes, Sandown has lost the pre Bathurst enduro warm up to Phillip Island this year and is running a three race sprint round istead. More political mindgames fron Cocho and his cronnies at V8 Supercars Inc!

As I said, three race sprint format for this round, same as previous three rounds.

Your teams for this weekend are;

Trojan, PMM. Paul Morris Motorsport.
Ed, HPT. Holden Privateer Teams.
Stevo, FPR. Ford Performance Racing.
younggun, LPE. Larry Perkins Engineering.
Luke, TAS. Tasman Motorsport.
Dan, SBR. Stone Brothers Racing.
Reg, BRI. Britek Motorsport.
Biggans, DJR. Dick Johnson Racing.
Greg, T8R. Triple 8 Racing.
Mick, HSV. Holden Special Vehicles.
d'Rat, HRT. Holden Racing Team.
Big Boyz Toyz, BJR. Brad Jones Racing.
Rod, GRM. Garry Rogers Motorsport.
Foggy. FPT. Ford Privateer Teams.

Good Luck all.

As I'm in interstate back of nowhere at the moment, results may be a little late being posted...

Cheers,
Rod.

Round seven has come and gone, round eight is upon us and no updates from the Sweepstakes guru.....

My sincerest apologies guys. For those unaware, I have been in hospital and missed the Queensland round of the V8s (lucky I had not yet purchased my tickets).

I tried to post your teams for round seven the morning I went into hospital, but that was the day the Optusnet network was down in Queensland, and of course I'm with Optus.....

Anyway, heres the update. The team you drew and the points you scored;

Trojan; GRM - 254 pts, cars 33 & 34, 7th place.
Ed; FPT - 206 pts, cars 021 & 111, 11th place.
Stevo; PMM - 320 pts, cars 39 & 67, 6th place. (Go the Enforcer!)
Young Gun; HPT - 122 pts, cars 50 & 55, 13th place.
Luke; FPR - 468 pts, cars 5 & 6, 1st place, $50.00.
Dan; LPE - 210 pts, cars 7 & 11, 10th place.
Reg; TAS - 194 pts, cars 3 & 51, 12th place.
Biggans; SBR - 360 pts, cars 4 & 9, 3rd place, $20.00.
Greg; BRI - 54 pts, cars 25 & 26, 14th (last) place. I think thats the lowest points anyone has ever scored....
Mick; DJR - 330 pts, cars 17 & 18, 5th place.
d'Rat; T8R - 334 pts, cars 88 & 888, 4th place.
Big Boyz Toyz; HSV - 230 pts, cars 15 & 16, 8th place.
Rod; HRT - 422 pts, cars 1 & 2, 2nd place, $30.00.
Foggy; BJR - 224 pts, cars 12 & 14, 9th place.

Wintons round eight teams will follow immediately.

Cheers,
Rod.
