How critical is it to mount the engine at the same angle as it was in the bike ? The bike I removed it from has snapped front forks so its hard to get the true angle

Very critical.

Use the line of the sump joint to the motor, make that line parralel with the bottom of your frame.

Hope this makes sence?

That doesn't work for a gsxr as the sump slopes a lot in the bike . Surely the angle could be a bit out as bikes do wheel stands and go up and down hills . I know that the base of the right hand engine cover is close to horizontal but I'm worried this isn't good enough as I'm just going off pictures and my damaged bike

Not sure this is relevent but my hillclimb car has a baffled sump to stop oil slop. But i used to ride trials bikes and spent most of the time on the back wheel

Mount the engine the same angle it was in the bike.
Generally the manufacturers name cast into the side cover is horizontal.

Problem is I can't get the angle with blown bent front forks And there doesn't seem to be any writing on the case

The photo where you still have the engine in the bike is close enough.

Thanks mate I found this pic which shows the very bottom of the sump level its only a small surface but looks like the thing to level, also the engine cover says 2200 ml on the same angle

Loving these billet canister mounts I got from pacific customs . I also got my front shocks in and painted hope to get the motor fitted soon. Just out of curiosity does anyone know how much preload is a good starting point for my rear shocks
