Mclovins Piranha Build!

Yeah that's exactly what we guessed had happened. Bit of a shame really, but at least I've now got lots of spares!

Already sourced a new engine. 2000 model rather than a 1994, 44000kms instead of 91000kms and will get a compression test done before I buy it. $540 dollars.

I may even rebuild this engine if its not too far gone.

Hey Mclovin,

Your Piranha looks great! Awesome Job. I'm building a Cuda at the moment :P

Any more updates or photos? New engine?

Cheers

Not much done lately. Recently started an apprenticeship as a sparky.

I have however brought a new engine due to the old one carking it. The new one is a 98 model Kwaka ZX7R. Has a new gearbox coming as I found some shrapnel in the sump of the drive dogs and thought I might as well replace the whole lot whilst I'm there. It will also receive a new clutch and possibly a valve job. Wont be nice cutting into the powder coating to change mounts but sh#t happens. Also need to alter to sump so it clears the chassis rails.

Bearings finally rocked up for the ZX7R. Gonna put it back together this saturday. Time to get it mounted and a new manifold welded up. Brought a carbon fiber TRC Yoshimura pipe off a 2008 GSXR1000 for it. Should hopefully sound sweet!
Wiring has been changed to the new engine specs and tidied up in some black conduit.

Not long hopefully until im burning along some fire trails.

Headers all done for the new engine. Just need to mount it to the muffler.

Just need to sort out fuel system, cooling system and controls.

Had a ripper day today testing the new engine! Only problem being i had overheating issues with coolant overflowing out the expansion tank. I'm thinking it could possibly be the thermostat not opening. What do you reckon if i completely got rid of it? Temp would just rise really fast into the mid 90's when i wasnt moving.

Looks awesome fun mate, can't wait to get my Cuda done :P

Did you end up modifying the sump? How'd that go?

Cheers

Nah left the sump as it was. Just going to make a 6mm steel guard.
