Biggans "PIRCUDASPRINTX" Build

Biggans "PIRCUDASPRINTX" Build

Postby biggans » Thu May 22, 2008 12:36 pm

Well here it is the build thread you've all been waiting for... well ok, maybe just two of you

This "PIRCUDASPRINTX" is a once off chassis design by Edge built to spec. Hypersprint rollbars, Piranha lower frame, Cuda top frame & XRV type upswept nose, Custom front A arms, Fox Shocks, 12" rims front and rear. I am really excited about this chassis because i feel it's a design that includes the best of everything. At the moment it's in the hands of John in the Edge workshop, so i will post pictures as they are sent to me. Interested to hear you comments.

Here are the first two.

Sounds very intriguing - any concept drawings? Back of the beer coaster stuff would be perfect - can't wait to see it take shape!

Might need to think of a new name for it though...

:? mmmm might need to make a few trailer modifications i think.... my old buggy just fit on the new trailer, no big deal small price to pay for such a better buggy.

Mate your cannon is mounted the wrong way, turn it around 180 degrees...

On a more serious note, you say "it's a design that includes the best of everything". You're using a Piranha lower frame, what's wrong with the Cuda lower half? Actually, I'd have thought the Cuda was an evolutionary advancement, the pinnacle of Edge designs, to go back to Hypersprint and Piranha bits might be a retrograde step.

Shocks mounted like the XRV.
Not a big buggy, same size as a Cuda, rollbar is 50mm wider.

I would not say the best of everything as the Cuda front suspension is better.
But Biggins has let the accountants snip that area.
Base frame is wider so a bit more room there.

The chassis is only configered with the Piranha base frame to suit the XRV style nose.

Otherwise if it was to have Cuda front suspension we would have just built a complete Cuda.

Yes Tony is right.. i could have said that a little better. Its the best buggy for the budget i had set for me... I think Tony said it best. Still, its going to be a much better buggy than before and a huge step up in engineering and performance. I cant wait.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I do have to thank Tony though, its really his design and idea. I believe she will have a PIRCV bum, with a Cuda top rail as I will be running FOX shocks and we need the height to mount them.
The colours are Jay's department. She is taking control of this buggy and has told me i am not allowed any random stickers... its all got to match  I think she is talking Gloss Black Powder coat for the Chassis, front and rear arms, Nurf Bars, and springs all with a clear coat, if i can get it done. Aluminum side panels secured with Stainless bolts . Rear wing to be two packed in Gloss Black with Aluminum sides and the wheels powder coated in Gloss Black as well.. That’s all she will tell me so far.... I guess i will be told on a need to know basis. I look at it this way... better to have her heavily involved than to be standing at the shed door yelling at me
