Topic Editing

Postby Dramatica » Fri Jul 21, 2006 10:53 am

Just a quick note to let everyone know that it is possible to edit your post's after they have been submitted.

When you are logged in and looking at one fo your posts that has already been submitted, have a look in the top right hand corner of the post. There should be an edit button. If you press this you can then edit your post.

Remember, if you have forgotten something in your post it is best to edit then to post again. The less posts that are not needed the better. It helps keep clutter to a minimum.

If you have any questions just let me know.

Thanks,
Luke

How come you can delete some posts and only edit others?

Editing

Postby S.W » Wed Jul 26, 2006 9:48 pm

I reckon I may have worked it out.

I can only see the delete button on posts I have that there are no replies to. Thus, i reckon it disappears when a reply is posted.

You are correct. That is the way it works. Moderators and Admim are able to delete any individual post though.

So in theory I can totally modify a post so that it makes even less sense than it did originaly and is out of context to the replys and the previous posts.
But I cannot delete it because it has had a reply.

But Big Bro is watching and can.

Bump!

Just thought I would give this topic a bump to get the attention of our forum members.

The real reason is: All topics need at least 1 post for the topic to exist ( The First Post ). Users are unable to delete topics weather or not they made them, If you have made a topic you can not delete the topic nor the post you have added ( Unless your a mod or admin ) with that post known as the "first post" However if you make another post you are able to delete that post but still not the first post

However your able to edit any of your posts, if you cannot edit them, then you must not be logged in or recognized by phpbb. If this happens try refreshing or logging out and in.
