Suspension and wheels for Piranha??

Suspension and wheels for Piranha??

Postby MrLorimer » Sat Jul 03, 2010 6:32 am

I recentlly bought the plans to build the Piranha buggy and trailer. Iv got all the material ready to put together and iv got a ZX9R ninja engine for the buggy. The main question to all Uk piranha buggy fans is what suspension did u use and did u get it from the uk? also what wheels did you use?

thanks

This has been the same problems I have had.

As far as the wheels are concerned I found a set of ATV wheels on ebay which were around the right size.

The PCD of the front wheels was rubbish but since they were a fairly simple presed metal Hub then they could be re drilled to suit a 4" trailer Hub which then mounted on a weld in trailer stub.

I got the trailer bits from CLH trailers from Camarthen who will do mail order no problem.

Shocks - well I haven't really considered the front but I am getting somewhere with the rear.

There are a couple of options from what I can see.

I have not been able to find GAZ shocks for the sort of money my budget allows for and I can only assume I am looking in the wrong place.

However if you google for Milen 4x4 or Milen Racing then you will find they supply all sorts of shocks.

They seem to specialise in FOX but the spec for the rears on the Piranha (fox 2207) IIRC are about £225 each :o

That is still outside my price range but the also do they're own shocks which they will build for you. These are discribed as a cheaper option to Fox and I am currently awaiting a price back.

Can anyone post a link to suppliers of GAZ shocks as the prospect of GAZ shocks at £110 is well worth a look - I cant see them for less than £400 :? :?
Paulie, pull over I gotta take a leak.

1 thing with the gaz shocks if you are going that way make sure you order the longer top rod ends as the std ones make the top of the shock foul the mounting points.
