Motor dimension

Postby 6pak » Sat Oct 31, 2015 2:26 pm

Hi Folks
I've built a TraxII and used a 6.5hp Blue diamond motor (Chinese knock off). I'm now having dramas getting the torque convertor to line up as the driveshaft on the motor doesn't seem long enough. Can anyone help with the measurement from the mounting surface of the crankcase to the end of the drive shaft on a Briggs & Stratton 6.5? I think I may need to write this cheap motor off as an experience in false economy! :)
Cheers

Long enough?
Crank shaft length?
The shaft never goes all the way through the clutch, short by around 20mm.
Thats normal.

Thanks for the advice Tony
If I space it out to line up with the front pulley the keyway doesn't meet up. How do you guys get around this?
Cheers

Sounds then like the crank is too short.

Thanks Tony, I grabbed a new Briggs & Stratton 6.5 and the drive shaft is 10mm longer. All working well now. :)
